Karna Das: The Melody King


Karna Das is not a new name to us. People say Karna das can grab attention of almost all the crowd in his performance. He penetrated into the music industry with his mega hit ‘Zindagi ko ke Bharosa’. This is the only song that has been circulating like a breeze in everyone’s soul.

Since then he has been able to grab the attention of almost all the population in Nepal. Karna Das was born in Nirmal Pokhari of Pokhara and he is celebrated as the best in melody music. Here is short Gossip with the king of Melody Music.

*Can you tell us about the starting phase of your musical journey?
I studied in my village school and then I was taken to Delhi (India) by my father. There I was enrolled in class 5 for schooling. I had the opportunity of learning music when I was 12. My interest in music accelerated after I met Manish Tamang and D.K Limbu. I am very thankful to them.

*What was your source of inspiration?
My sources of inspiration were my parents. They loved creativity and music. My father himself is a good musician, I imitated him and now I am here in this phase of life.

*Did you take any type of education in music?
My stay in Delhi was a great advantage. I met brothers from Sikkim and Darjeeling. They played a big role in training me.

*How many songs have you done till now?
I have done around 120-130 songs till now.

*How would you categorize your songs?
I would like to say that my songs are clean. It is more then sentimental, melodious, pop and modern. I am so glad that the majority of the population likes my performance.

*We have heard that you compose songs and you are good in playing musical instruments too, what do you like the most and what do you have to say about this?
I want to say that voice and music are correlated. Voice needs music and music does need voice too. I don’t feel that there should be difference between these. A perfect singer should know how to play musical instruments

What are your recent projects?
