INTERVIEW WITH VIJAY KANDARA LEAD GUITARIST

(1) Where did you grow up?

I # I grew up in POKHARA , my home town is pokhara. I got up everything’s from this love paradise. I love my place. Actually my province place is BIJAYPUR DIHI GAUN........kaski. 10 kilometres far from Pokhara.

(2) When did you start playing guitar?

# Really I'm so impressed when I talk about the guitar. Really this instrument is amazing instrument. Actually I start to play the guitar when I was 12 years. That time very hard to buy but got it.,Just a very few guitar's were in that time in Pokhara town. I love the guitar's music and love to play. When I start to play the guitar then I began to fall in love in music and willing to arrange the new songs. Honestly I want to say that it makes me drop my tears from my eyes when I play lonely.

(3) Did you get into the theoretical aspects of guitar playing?

# When I start to play the guitar that time I got all kinds of knowledge from my self and by seeing the guitar's book and find out many guitar lesson from the books. Actually I never get the class from any teachers. Everything’s I learn myself. When I playing the guitar I really dig it myself the theory of listening the pitch and FOCUS on the melody.

(4) When did you come to Hong Kong and what you been doing since then?

# I came to Hong Kong in 1996. Truly what I like to say that I'm one of the band member (kandara band) and I 'm thinking always here to develop many experiences for my music life. Because I establish my KANDARA BAND IN 1994. Even I'm in Hong Kong I always go through in my musical carrier. now I'm in hong Kong ,I always busy to perform for concert and teaching guitar, helping to the many Nepalese community of Hong Kong....playing in pub and bar.,,,,helping in school for graduation day....etc.,,and other part is need to do work too

(5) So do you still keep in touch with the kandara band?

# Of course, of course, why not. This is my biggest achievement in my life and carrier because I spend my whole life here from the beginning. I love my kandara band and I like to carry wherever I go. Even all my kandara's fren's are same like me. They love very much and we all kandara family love this band because we built this band and create the family members. Really really this is my heart. Our band member is still here and we will keep on touch wherever we members are. We always keep touching each others in phone communication for new songs. I promise that we all kandaras are in one home we are not far from away because we want to preserved our band

(6) When hit the time such as (lekha ki hey Maya) (Hong Kong pokhara) and recently kandara third album so how do you say being apart being your self aboard in Hong Kong?

Yes, 1997, really it's amazing moment for all our band members and to me also. How I explained...really it's great and great which was fully we succeed to reach our ambition. Actually I want to give thanks all our fans who love and support us. We want to dedicate all kinds of song for our fans and we will try to bring new melody's song for fans.

Actually our first album is ''CHAN CHALE KANCHHI'' when we released this album in Nepal then after we rise very fast in fans. Then after 2nd album we launched, DADA PARI...LEKAKI HE MAYA...IN THIS TIME we all get support from fans and liked our 2nd album very much. Whole Nepal deserved to our new creation. really it's brought new revolution in music history in Nepal which was composed in Nepal modern folk pop song plus different types of genres then we had done....similarly again we brought 3rd album, HONG KONG POKHARA,,,this album also got many popularity in public. The entire album got us a lot of achievement from different place. It’s amazing for us. Actually kandara's music arranging is own style because we want there must be Nepal tune and music. We will do this until we are alive in this world. and now few years after we again launched one very new album..4th, BARSAU PACHHI...this album have new creation here and little different style we put here. Recently we won the award from Annapurna FM radio program, pokhara. I hope we will do again more and more new creative song for our fans in future.

I have felt so sad because almost so long time I haven't meet my fren’s and haven't get the chance together for programming in Nepal our somewhere. Really it's pain in my heart because I missed my fren’s and fans too. What can I do? I want survive. In Nepal no way to survive. It’s very hard to earn. Now I'm busy here attending in concert and playing in bar and teaching it student.

(7) Are u still active at the music or other else things you do?

Honestly I would like to say that I’m still active in my music because I like the music and like to play guitar. May be I can’t leave this music from my life. I can’t stay alone without guitar. This is a part of life. It’s help to me when I feel pain in my heart. other this is job.

(8) So what was your job when you were in kandara?

When I was in KANDARA BAND, I played the lead guitar. From the beginning I liked to play lead so finally I got it from my band members. And arranging the new song and composing new song leading the band members.

(9)Aren't you thinking of some kind of reunited the band and performing a live kandara concert?

Yes, I will do and we all waiting our time for gathering. We will bring the new creation in public. Please keep watch and wait us we will come in stage one day include all my kandara members. We are expecting that if someday, someone offers us to our band for concert we will come and do our great job for fans.

(10) So how far do you see the music Nepalese community in Hong Kong and Nepal as far as concern busy city life in Hong Kong?

when I came in Hong Kong really I thought that I 'm going to loosed my music and my personality but little by little the Nepalese community had realized that our Nepalese tune should be play in Hong Kong, actually we all busy here for job and nobody have time for get to gather for concert. If we are Nepal may be we don't get like this too busy life. Any time you can do in Nepal but in Hong Kong it's very hard to pick up all the things. But we have done well as much as Nepalese people of Hong Kong they accepted us.

(11) what's your memorial gigs or concert and where was it?

# well, my great memorial is having concert with INDIAN IDOL, RAJIV IN HONG KONG. That time I'm the one who lead the RAJIV in stage to help him. I never had done that concert in my life because it's very huge stadium and all seats are full many many crowd I never seen before in concert. it was held in 2006 .

(12) When playing live do you ever had some problems?

In my life time I haven't get this kinds of sound problem in concert. I have very succeed all program which was I had done before.

(13) What are your biggest assets?

My biggest assets are buying the FENDER GUITAR...USA made. I like blues so I choose this guitar.

(14) What do you want to say at last but not at the least to the music lover around the world?

Finally, I would like to give thanks to all my kandara's fans. Music can heal you anytime. Music can survive too and support for encouraging. Please come and join with the music.  wherever you go music will be there in your heart and soul.
